We met just after dawn on May 10, 2025, for their Chicago engagement photo session, and the soft morning light was absolutely stunning. The city skyline, quiet lakefront, and golden glow created the perfect backdrop for this easygoing, city-loving couple.
A Romantic Engagement Session at North Avenue Beach
Ashley and Collin reached out to me after finding my work through Hoosier Grove Barn, their wedding venue. Right away, I could tell they were down-to-earth and intentional—two qualities that always lead to an incredible experience in front of the camera.
They met on Hinge during the pandemic, and their first date was technically “illegal” (thank you, COVID shutdowns). Fast forward four years, and they’re now planning a life together after Collin proposed in Norway during a hiking trip in August 2024. Ashley had a feeling it was coming on that trip—but didn’t know the exact moment, which made it all the more special.
Engagement Photos with a Relaxed, Personal Feel
Their personalities really came through during the session. While they said they felt awkward at first (as most couples do!), they truly embraced the process and ended up totally rocking their shoot. They were open to new location ideas in the North Avenue Beach and Lincoln Park area, while also making sure to include places that meant something to them. Their balance of trust and direction made the session flow effortlessly.
Ashley and Collin are both smart, well-spoken, and incredibly warm—truly a joy to photograph. They love exploring the city together, and it was such a privilege to document this chapter of their story in one of the most iconic spots for engagement photos in Chicago.
